AEROFLEX 2nd newsletter

Dear AEROFLEX follower,

We are proud to publish our second AEROFLEX newsletter, which is issued after a successful event during the HVTT15, Rotterdam October 2-5th.

At the HVTT15 over 250 visitors had the chance to experience the activities running in the AEROFLEX project.

The first day of the symposium, AEROFLEX participated in a discussion panel “Roadmap to greener transport” during which innovative and effective solutions to reduce the emissions of the transport sector for the coming decade were discussed. Some of the topice addressed were: vehicle concepts for long haul freight, sustainable use of trucks, electric road systems and smart truck fleet management.

On the second day the AEROFLEX consortium meeting was held for the partners in which all partners reported the status of the work accomplished and future activities.

On the last day, AEROFLEX was participating in the discussion panel “A dialog between trucks & bridges”. It was stated that road transport wears out bridges, while freight transport is vital for a thriving economy. Governments worldwide face huge challenges of replacing deficient bridges, many designed and built for the needs of the 60´s and 70´s. This discussion panel brought stakeholders together to discuss and better understand the needs on infrastructure to fulfil the future road logistics in an efficient way.

Also another side event “Roadmap to future vehicles” was fully devoted to AEROFLEX: How to involve large fleet owners in the development of new vehicle concepts.
Over 60 people participated this side event having a lively discussion in workshop style about prime candidates, use cases and 30% less emissions – 30% more efficiency within road freight transport. It validated the work done in the first phase of the AEROFLEX project and it also brought many new information and suggestions to incorporate in the second phase of the project.

The 4th Steering Board (SB) meeting was held during the HVTT15. During this meeting the highlights of the first year were presented. The SB agreed on the results presented so far and approved the next steps for 2019. To view the highlights click on one of the topics below:

As the project coordinator I want to thank all project partners and all Sounding Board members for the work done and the support given making the first phase of the AEROFLEX project a big success.
